I had made a promise to Atticus that I wouldn't get into anymore fights. I wanted nothing more but to punch Cecil Jacobs right in the yapper when he said all Atticus did was defend Negroes. My family went to Finch's Landing for Christmas with Aunt Alexandra, Uncle Jimmy, Uncle Jack, and our cousin Francis. As usual all Aunt Alexandra did was yell at Atticus and me for not dressing like a lady. The yelling really continued when I punched Francis in the face for talking about my daddy.
